WORLD HISTORY

Course Summary: Our studies in World History begin with the Renaissance period in Italy and conclude with the current day.  We will focus on the political, economic, religious, social, intellectual, and artistic history of the past 500 years.  Our studies will include Europe, the Americas, Africa and Asia.  Students will be expected to analyze different historical periods and express their findings clearly.

Classroom Expectations:

·         Students will be in the classroom when the bell rings.

·         Students must bring all required materials to class with them.

·         Students will use class time productively.

·         Be respectful to the teacher, guest speakers, and your fellow students. Please do not

            speak when others are speaking.

·         No talking will be permitted during quizzes and tests. Cheating and/or plagiarism will

            result in a zero and be reported to the office.

·         When you are absent, it will be your responsibility to get your assignment.

·         Remain in your seat until the bell rings or I dismiss you.

·         Be positive. Show up each day ready to learn!

Semester Grade :       Quarter One=40%

                                    Quarter Two=40%

                                    Semester Exam=20%

Quarter Assignment Breakdown:    Homework                  38%

                                                            In Class Assignments  32%

                                                            Tests                            30%

                                                            (based on American History class)

Semester Assessment :  Comprehensive multiple/matching test over the year’s subjects

Late Work:  Course work will be accepted late, but it will receive a 50% deduction.

Cheating:  School policy-receive zero on assignment and will be turned in to the office

Attendance Policy

Excused Absence:  School policy-2 days for make up work; modified for extended leave

Unexcused Absence:  Work may be handed in but will receive a 50% deduction

 

 

Extra Credit:  Students may earn up to 20 extra credit points per quarter by attending movie nights, doing projects, papers, or any other idea approved by the teacher.  These must be turned in by before the last week of the semester.
